Event Description

Children of Vadodara dreamed to celebrate the children’s day as a special event. They wanted to celebrate it meaningfully with joy and happiness. They came up with an idea of spending the day with games, music, dance and fun together with other children of the city. Child Friendly Vadodara team encouraged this initiative of the children. On November 14th 2018, Child Friendly Vadodara celebrated “Bal-Mela”- Children’s Festival. Children from the streets, slums, government and non-government children’s homes and other organisations were invited. More than 600 girls and boys, and about 100 volunteers and guests attended this event. CFCI has made this event possible in association with the Happy Faces Volunteering organisation and with the constant support from Word Vision India. Refreshments and prizes for the events were taken care by these partnering ngo’s of CFCI Vadodara. A number of artists, who also attended the function attracted the children and motivated them by demonstrating their various skills and crafts. There were sessions for parents and children on child rights issues and awareness was created on working together to address the violations of rights especially of the more marginalised and vulnerable children. Before the conclusion of the event, children were divided into different groups and prepared sketches and paintings of their ‘Dream City’.
